Roraima Trekking Tour Itinerary
Roraima day 1:
After a 2 hour drive from Santa Elena, we reach Paraitepuy, which is 1200 metres above sea level. We will walk about 5 hours through open savanna before getting to the Kukenan Camp at a height of 1050m. We need to cross two rivers, which can be tricky because the Kukenan creek swells after rainfalls to the size of a river. Our experienced guides will help with the river crossing. At the campsite you will be served a hot dinner.
Roraima day 2:
After a hearty breakfast we start a four-hour hike to the Base Camp.(1870 metres.) The trek also requires walking uphill for 2 hours. On our way we will cross rolling hills in the savanna. In the afternoon we will reach the Base camp and have a nice dinner.
Roraima day 3:
We start off to the tough part of the day: a 2-hour steep hike. Afterwards we will be exhausted but amazed by the beauty of the jungle. Now you can touch the wall of Mount Roraima and a small waterfall will bring us much needed refreshment! From there we need another ninety minutes to reach the top, which is 2800 meters above sea level. A light lunch will be served on arrival. You can spend the afternoon exploring the area around the camp and the edge of the mountain. The evening will be rounded off with a delicious meal served by our guide.
Roraima day 4:
We have the whole day to spend on the top of Roraima. We will see thousands of strangely shaped rock-formations, that resemble animals or historical and fantastical figures. When the fog envelops everything on the mountain, it creates a mysterious atmosphere. We will be amazed by the crystal-valley and the fantastic view of the savanna from the top of Roraima. We'll have a light lunch on the way and a delicious dinner in the evening at the camp.
Roraima day 5:
In the morning we make the descent of the mountain to the campsite at Rio Tök. Today we have to walk about 7 hours, downhill from 2800m to 1050m. After the most strenuous three hours of descent we will have a light lunch at the base of the mountain. After reaching the camp we can take a dip in the river by a little water-fall. While awaiting a delicious warm meal, we can take in the panoramic view of the Kukenan and Roraima mountains.
Roraima Day 6:
After the last four hours of walking we will reach Paraitepuy again. Since it is forbidden to take crystals from Roraima, your luggage will be checked by the park rangers. The cars will already be waiting with cold drinks and lunch. On the way back to Santa Elena we can make a short stop at the Quebrada de Jaspe with its bed of red jasper.
